Craft is Make, 2017
If time is a vessel to collect stories of one object. When things get older, it had created its own meaning and identity. Or in other words, we could say that when things get older, more valuable it becomes. The archive of information that has been collected through time can make us understand the development and see the value behind things.
The same story goes for “Craft”. Its value’s hidden within the object, which goes beyond time. Left behind to the younger generation. Each creation of mankind becomes a seed of knowledge that contain our ancestor's wisdom that grows up every day through time. It would not be a bad idea to turn back and retake a look at it with a new and different perspective. Because of the historical aspect that contains behind its curved arms, the anonymous chair was selected as a representative object to tell the story of the craft. Combining of old, modern and new design chair.
These 32 anonymous chairs were interpreted in terms of process, material, form, quality, and time. Those terms were used as standard criteria to analyze the meaning of the word “craft” that evolved through time.
After talking with us through these 32 anonymous chairs. We hope that you will give an opportunity to the word “craft” to redefine its own definition with a new open perspective.
