Anonymous Chair, 2016
Anonymous Chair Exhibition is the design exhibition that perseveres with the foundation of art, culture, and history of Thailand. From external influences which effect the living of people in Thai society.
The exhibition was set up by a group of people called Issaraphap (which means “Freedom” in Thai words) Issaraphap consists of 11 groups of designers from Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Presenting a vision of the young generation through a nameless chair, known as the curved-arm chair, delicate-armchair, tank chair, grandpa chair, Lanna chair, coffee shop’s chair or etc.
These chairs were used in the local area of Lanna over the past and are still used nowadays. We aim to explore the old things and bring them back with open-mindedness. With an intention to not intrude, 'the old is backward or the new is forward’ on the other hand, we would like to express creativity and pay true respect to the wisdom of our ancestors. We hope that this exhibition will inspire open-ended questions. Which can create opportunities for realization, depending on personal experience. Neither local people nor visitors. Also, to recognize the value of creativity, which has an effect on the Thai culture, and to preserve it everlasting.
